Sustainability
To keep our planet clean and try our best to have a small carbon footprint, we use recyclable packaging and do our best to sustainably run our business. We make our jewelry out of various metals and polymer clay.
Jewelry can be recycled. Melting the metals down, stripping it for parts, or reusing it for another purpose are a couple of ways jewelry can be recycled.
Our polymer clay jewelry isn’t biodegradable. Once it has been used, it must be thrown away. However, there are some ways to recycle polymer clay. One way is to use it as a mold for casting plaster or other materials. Another way is to use it as a filler for fabric or papermache.
Of course, once we ship out our products, we cannot completely control the packaging whereabouts our how it is disposed of, but here is what we can do:
-
The mailers we use to ship our products are 100% recycled padded mailers we get from EcoEnclose. EcoEnclose 100% Recycled Padded Mailers are a uniquely eco-friendly mailer: upcycled newspaper is matted into a layer of cushioning, then sandwiched between two layers of recycled Kraft paper. It is curbside recycled and naturally biodegradable - the result: the world’s most eco-friendly cushioned mailer.
-
Our business cards that are also stickers are not directly biodegradable, but since they are made out of various papers they can still be recycled if done properly.
-
The wrapping paper we use to wrap our jewelry and extra padding is 100% recyclable. The wrapping is from PMLAND on amazon and they are a small business.
-
Our order receipts are printed from simple paper that can be recycled and biodegradable.
-
Our shipping labels are made to stick to our mailers, so they are not able to biodegrade as easily, but they can still be recycled.
-
Our thank you cards are made from watercolor paper that we recycled and repurposed.
-
We stamp our envelopes and display cards using a 2000 Felt stamp pad and we use stamps from StampedwithLoveXOXO on Etsy which is a wonderful small business.
-
Our display cards are made from glossy stock paper that is strong enough to hold the jewelry and can be recycled.
